Importing and Exporting Stage Screens in ProPresenter 7 by Using Themes

Uncategorized Feb 15, 2023

I wanted to make a quick little ProPresenter tutorial today. This is something I've been trying to figure out for a while now, and maybe some of you already know this, but I found that finding the information online to actually export a stage screen as a template and then import it into another version of ProPresenter is quite hard. So, I decided to make a dedicated tutorial for those trying to export their stage screens quickly and easily.

Importing a Stage Screen into ProPresenter

To start, let's talk about importing a stage screen into ProPresenter. The process is simple but not very intuitive. First, you need to go to File, then Import, and select the theme you want to import. In my case, I created a theme called "Stage Screen Template." After importing, you will find this theme in your list of themes. Next, you need to edit the theme and transfer it to the stage editor.

  1. Open the Theme Editor: Select the imported theme and click on 'Edit'.
  2. Copy the Elements: Select everything on the screen and press Command+C to copy.
  3. Paste in Stage Editor: Move to the stage editor, create a new blank stage screen, and paste everything using Command+V.

Setting the Default Stage Screen

Once you've created a new stage screen, you might want to set it as the default stage screen. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Screens: Navigate to 'Screens' and then 'Stage Screen 1'.
  2. Select Your New Stage Screen: Choose the newly created stage screen, which you can rename from 'Blank' to something more descriptive.

Exporting a Stage Screen from ProPresenter

Now, let's talk about exporting a stage screen. If you have a stage screen that you like and want to transfer it to another computer or share it with someone else, follow these steps:

  1. Copy from Stage Editor: Go to the stage editor, select everything on the stage screen, and copy it using Command+C.
  2. Create a New Theme: Go to the theme editor, create a new theme, and delete any default text layer.
  3. Paste the Elements: Paste the copied elements into the new theme.
  4. Export the Theme: Go to File, then Export, and select 'Export Themes'. Deselect all themes except the one you just created and hit Export.

This method allows you to share your customized stage screens easily.

Features of My Custom Stage Screen

The stage screen I created for my church includes several useful features:

  • Chord Charts Synced with Multi-Tracks: Shows exactly what part of the song you’re on.
  • Current and Next Slide Text: Displays the text for the current and next slides.
  • Time and Playlist Information: Shows the current time, the current playlist item, and the next playlist item.

I'm giving this template away for free. You can download it from the link in the description below and follow the same setup process I described here. If you end up using this stage screen in your church, please leave a comment and let me know how it's working for you, any tweaks you made, and how it has improved your worship services.

Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next video!
