Recently, ProPresenter released an update that has significantly streamlined the process of adding chords to stage screens, thanks to a partnership with MultiTracks. Previously, adding chords involved manually entering them, taking screenshots, or importing PDFs. This new feature automates the process, making it much simpler and faster, albeit at a cost.
To take advantage of this feature, you'll need several MultiTracks subscriptions. The essential ones include:
These subscriptions total approximately $730 annually without discounts. While this might seem steep, especially for those new to MultiTracks, it offers a seamless integration for adding chords to stage screens. For those already using MultiTracks, it can be a logical upgrade.
At my church, we already had the Cloud Pro Plus subscription and recently acquired Chart Pro, so we only needed the ProPresenter add-on. This setup made it easy to integrate the new feature. It's worth noting that these subscriptions offer more than just chord charts; they include playback apps, chart builders, and other useful tools for music and worship teams.
Integrating this feature into our workflow was straightforward. After updating to ProPresenter 7.8, we logged into our MultiTracks account within ProPresenter. From there, we could search for songs in the MultiTracks database and import them with chords attached. This process eliminated the need for manual entry and made key changes effortless.
For example, I recently needed to change the key of a song during a service. I simply requested the change in ProPresenter, and the chords were updated instantly. This capability is particularly helpful for musicians who rely on chord charts as a reference.
Despite the overall positive experience, we did encounter a minor issue. Once, ProPresenter acted as if we weren't logged into MultiTracks, requiring us to re-login. This was a minor inconvenience and hasn't recurred since.
To set this up, ensure you have the required subscriptions and update to ProPresenter 7.8. Log into your MultiTracks account within ProPresenter and import your songs. When importing, select the option to include chords and adjust settings such as the number of lines per slide and custom themes.
Make sure your stage screen is linked to the MultiTracks chord charts. ProPresenter provides a default stage screen template, but you can create or download custom templates if preferred.
This feature is a game-changer for those who frequently use chord charts in their services. It simplifies the process, saves time, and integrates smoothly with existing MultiTracks subscriptions. While the cost may be a hurdle for some, the convenience and additional features make it a worthwhile investment for many churches.
